Metalheads always seem to look after each other, whether in the pit or during a pinch. After California man Jeremy Brooks was forced to sell his custom seven-string guitar to pay for his infant niece’s funeral, guitarists united to help the musician.

In a private ‘Kiesel & Carvin Buy/Sell/Trade’ Facebook group, Brooks posted a heartbreaking ad:

Hello fellow musicians, I am selling this bad boy today. I bought him at NAMM and he has served me very well. Clean tone, and everything I’ve ever wanted in a 7 string guitar. Asking price is $2000. Original price for this custom guitar is over $3469. Proceeds are going towards my niece’s funeral who passed away.

Soon after, musicians in the comments section began offering to chip in for Brooks’ funeral expenses, leading to a GoFundMe page being launched.

The page’s description reveals the tragedy behind why Brooks put his guitar up for sale. His niece Krystal passed away from SIDS at just five months old. “She was a wonderful addition to our family and had beautiful large eyes and an infectious smile,” Brooks writes.

So far, $1,200 has been raised of the $2,000 goal. If you’re interested in contributing to the cause, head over to Jeremy Brooks’ GoFundMe page. [via Metal Injection]
